CT / PT Instrument Transformers. Precision Measurement. Proven Safety.
Current transformers (CT) and voltage transformers (PT) manufactured for metering, protection, and control — built to IS and IEC standards, available in epoxy resin and oil-impregnated types, and backed by the same engineering discipline that governs every product in the KLR group.
The Measurement Layer Every Power System Depends On.
Every transformer, switchboard, and protection relay in a power system depends on accurate measurement of current and voltage. Current transformers (CT) reduce high primary currents to standardised secondary levels safe for metering and protection equipment. Voltage transformers (PT) reduce high system voltages to the standardised secondary levels used by meters, relays, and control systems. Without them, accurate energy metering and reliable protection cannot function.
KLR's instrument transformer capability draws directly from the manufacturing expertise of Epoxy Terminals & Equipment — the group entity established in 2012 specifically for CT, PT, and epoxy insulation product manufacturing. This heritage gives KLR's instrument transformers a design and production foundation built on over a decade of specialist manufacturing experience in epoxy-encapsulated electrical equipment.

Key Features
- Epoxy resin encapsulation — moisture-proof, self-extinguishing, and suitable for indoor switchgear and panel mounting without additional weather protection
- Multiple accuracy classes in CT and PT — metering and protection classes available to the same IS and IEC accuracy standards used by utilities and industries across India
- Dual ratio CT availability — single unit with two independently wound secondary windings; one for metering, one for protection, eliminating the need for two separate CT units at the same primary point
- IS and IEC compliance — IS 2705 / IEC 61869-2 for CTs; IS 3156 / IEC 61869-3 for VTs/PTs — meeting all DISCOM, utility, and industrial procurement specifications
- Test certificate with every unit — ratio error, phase displacement, burden, and dielectric test results documented and issued at dispatch
- Compact panel-mount format — epoxy units designed for direct mounting in MV switchgear, metering panels, and ring main units
- Group manufacturing heritage — designed and produced drawing on Epoxy Terminals & Equipment's decade-plus experience in epoxy insulation product manufacturing
Applications
- Energy metering — utilities, industrial consumers, and commercial facilities requiring accurate kWh measurement
- Protection relay inputs — overcurrent, earth fault, differential, and distance protection schemes
- Power quality monitoring — harmonic analysis, power factor measurement, and load profiling
- MV switchgear panels — ring main units (RMUs), vacuum circuit breaker panels, and feeder pillars
- Compact substations — metering and protection CT/PT within the KLR compact substation package
- Transformer differential protection — CTs on HV and LV sides for unit protection of power transformers
- Revenue metering — CT-operated energy meters for utility billing and industrial tariff metering
- Busbar protection — CTs feeding busbar differential protection schemes in switchgear panels
Why KLR for Distribution Transformers
- Group manufacturing capability since 2012 — Epoxy Terminals & Equipment has manufactured epoxy CT, PT, and insulation products for over a decade; this is not a new product line
- Single-source supply with the power transformer — CT/PT for transformer protection and metering sourced from the same group as the transformer itself; coordinated specification and single point of contact
- IS and IEC accuracy compliance — accuracy class certificates to IS 2705 and IS 3156 standard with every unit — meeting utility and DISCOM procurement requirements
- Epoxy resin — no oil, no maintenance — cast resin units require no oil servicing, no BDV testing, and no periodic oil treatment throughout their operational life
- Test certificate with every unit — ratio error, phase displacement, burden, and dielectric results documented; no unit dispatched without a signed test record
- Coordinated package supply — CT/PT specified and supplied as part of the complete KLR compact substation package, where applicable
